Welcome To Rhein International Academy!

Communication enables us to better understand and explore the world around us. Better understanding brings greater opportunities. Desiring to develop strong communication skills in each student, Rhein International Academy offers an English as a Foreign Language Program (EFL) for students whose native language is not English. The aim of this program is to help students acquire the English proficiency needed to succeed in their present coursework and to qualify for further academic achievement after graduation.
Our staff works closely with each student in daily small-group instruction sessions to ensure they reach a level of both academic and cognitive English language proficiency. EFL students are also immersed in mainstream academic classes most of the day. Alongside native speakers and more proficient second language users, they have good language models and the motivational benefit of learning with their peers. This helps students acquire English quickly and naturally, which will help them later as they transition into university life.
As formerly stated on the admissions process page, an English proficiency test is administered to all students whose native language is not English. If the student's evaluation shows less than fluent English skills, that student will be placed in the EFL program. On average, young children will be in the program for one to two years. Older students may take two to three years or possibly longer, to improve their academic English skills sufficiently to exit the program and be independently successful with the mainstream curriculum.
